ALTERNA´s lawyer Kati Tamm gave comments to Estonian largest business newspaper Äripäev about the amendments in the Obligations Act. Estonian law amendments were caused by European Union Directive and they are coming into force on 13th of June. Among other things, the changes in law will increase e-traders information obligations. The sanctions for non-compliance with the notification obligation are changing as well.

The amended Act will provide a list of the exact circumstances, about what and at what stage an e-trader must inform the consumer. For example, the consumer must be informed about the conditions, deadlines and procedures for the right to withdraw from the contract and the trader must make a standard form for withdrawal available to the consumer etc.
